Great Wildebeest Migration Safari

6 Days Great Wildebeest Migration Safari

Explore Tours By Safaris

Overview

The Great Wildebeest Migration has been listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa as it is the biggest wildlife show on earth.

The show is played by more than two million wildebeests along with gazelle, zebras and other antelopes rush suddenly in search of rain and healthier grazing fields- making it the most exclusive safari experience in Africa.

Though there is no fixed migratory path, other than birth and death, it seems reasonable to call the wildebeest’s birthing season the beginning of the migration. Around February, some 400 000 calves are born within two to three weeks of one another. The birthing takes place on the short-grass plains of the lower northern slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater highlands and is spotted around Olduvai Gorge.

The region hosting the largest mammalian migration is from Tanzania to Kenya and both are popular destinations for visitors who want to experience a true African safari.
