Lake Chala is located in the South-Eastern park of Mount Kilimanjaro around 60 kilometers from Moshi. Lake Chala divides Tanzania and Kenya and is thought to be the deepest lake in Africa.
This lake is fed by underground springs from Mt. Kilimanjaro and holds a great diversity of life. A huge variety of amazing trees grasses and plants are unique to the area. Lake Chala is a truly ancient land and a must-visit destination of Tanzania.
The African fish eagle, with its hunting techniques, Verreaux's eagle, augur buzzards and many other species of birds can be often seen in the crater walls. Wild mammals can also be seen including elephant, dik-dik, kudu, monkeys and baboons.
Lunch will be served at a picnic place near the lake. After plenty of time spent swimming and relaxing, we will take you back.
You will be picked up from your accommodation in moshi at 9:00AM and drive lake chala( approximately 1.5Hrs) It a beautiful spot with the lake formed in a caldera bordering Tanzania and Kenya. Upon arrival you walk down to the lake, enjoy swimming in the lake or you watch birds and monkeys playing on the trees, you can spot out for wildlife such as baboons and may be Elephant during dry season as they cross from Tsavo National Park in Kenya then after that you can have your lunch of which you will enjoy the breeze of the lake and the view too. After everyone is ok comfortable then you can now drive off to moshi town.
